Students hula hooping in grassy area.

We will hold Field Day over two days again this year. Kindergarten, First, and Second-grade classes will have their field day on Thursday, April 26, 2018. Students in Third, Fourth, and Fifth grades will have their field day on Friday, April 27, 2018. Mr. Seagroves has prepared two fun-filled days for the students. In planning for these events, please be reminded students must wear the appropriate shoes in order to participate. Also, any sunscreen will need to be applied by parents before the students come to school. Please do not send sunscreen with students. Students will be allowed to wear hats and sunglasses as needed. This is not a requirement but simply an option. Mr. Seagroves is asking for bottled water donations for both days. He is also in need of pop up shade tents. This will give students, staff, and volunteers shelter from the sun while participating or viewing the events. If you can help with this please contact the office or Mr. Seagroves as soon as you can. We look forward to these two fun-filled days. If you have any other questions or concerns please direct them to the school office or Mr. Seagroves.

Collect Box Tops for our school. Don't Toss It, Clip It!

We will continue to collect Box Tops for the remainder of the school year. Reach out to family members, friends, and community members and ask them to collect for our school.  Our school was able to collect close to $1000 last school year all because of you. If you are a member of the community and would like to donate your box-tops, drop them off at the school office. We appreciate all of our parents, staff, students, and family members who save them for us.

BUS SAFETY
Published by Sharon Shipley on April 23, 2018
.....................................................................................................................................................................................

School bus and students showing school bus safetyIt is very important for our bus riders to exercise bus safety at all times. Here are some tips that parents and teachers can remind all our students to follow.

–Always speak in a quiet voice on the bus so the driver will not be distracted. Always be silent when a bus comes to a railroad crossing so the driver can hear if a train is coming.

–Never throw things on the bus or out the windows. Keep the aisles clear at all times. Feet should be directly in front of you on the floor and bookbags should be kept on your lap. Large instruments or sports equipment should not block the aisle or emergency exits.

–Never play with the emergency exits. If there is an emergency, listen to the driver and follow instructions.

–Hands should be kept to yourself at all times while riding the bus. Fighting and picking on others create a dangerous bus ride.

One of our top priorities at College Lakes making sure our students are safe. This includes while riding on the bus. Help us remind our students they have a big part in safety both at school and on the bus.
